Best Season and Time of Day
Best Season: October to April
The cooler months from October to April are widely considered the best time to visit Egypt. Daytime temperatures are pleasant (15-25°C or 59-77°F), perfect for walking around the expansive Giza Plateau. The winter peak is December and January, which sees the largest crowds. For a balance of good weather and fewer people, aim for the shoulder months of October, November, March, or April.
Worst Season: June to August
The summer months are intensely hot, with temperatures often soaring above 40°C (104°F). While you'll encounter fewer tourists, the extreme heat can make exploring uncomfortable and even risky during the middle of the day.
Best Time of Day: Early Morning or Late Afternoon
Early Morning (at opening): Arriving right as the gates open (7 AM in summer, 8 AM in winter) is the best strategy. You'll beat the tour bus crowds and the worst of the midday heat. The soft morning light is also ideal for photography.
Late Afternoon (2-3 hours before closing): The crowds begin to thin out, and the temperature becomes more bearable. The "golden hour" before sunset casts a beautiful light on the pyramids and Sphinx, offering stunning photo opportunities.
